Ghosts of the eighteenth century

The entry of the Arab world to the world of theater was late even by great pioneers, where they studied its art and mastered its methods before transferring it to us. Despite the simplicity of their beginnings, these were authentic experiences, and without them the Arab theater would not have reached its current level. Maroun Abboud was one of the most prominent of these pioneers loyal to the theater art. He wrote many leading texts in a time when many were not enthusiastic about this new art. This play offers us a deep look at the tragedy of Sheikh Al -Kabir Fernan, who has been engaged in the engagement of sadness. After the tragedy of the loss of his two sons, their wife joined them in the hereafter, and their little son Emile, who seeks with all his effort to alleviate the sadness and pain of his unity. Will the fate collect it with more calamities, or will it give him comfort and reassurance?

مارون عبود: الشخصية الرائدة في النهضة الأدبية الحديثة في لبنان، هو كاتب صحفي وروائي ساخر وقصاص بارع وشاعر يتميز بحيائه. لم يقتصر إبداعه في ميدان الأدب، بل تجلى أيضًا كناقد أبهر نقاده بإجلالهم واحترامهم. يتألق كمؤرخ ومسرحي، ويعد من الزعماء في ميدان الفكر والفن في العصر الحديث. حاز مارون عبود على العديد من الأوسمة، منها وسام المعارف من الدرجة الأولى، ووسام الاستقلال من الدرجة الثانية. أثر بإيجابية في المكتبة العربية من خلال مؤلفاته الأدبية والشعرية والنقدية كـ "نقدات عابر"، و"تذكار الصبا"، و"زوابع". ودعته الحياة في عام ١٩٦٢م.
