Poetry was an essential tool that the ancient Arabs used to preserve and record their human and literary heritage. In this book, Muhammad Mandour takes us on a detailed journey on the general theory of poetry, in terms of its philosophical foundations and basic ingredients, from its crystallization in the era of Greece to the twentieth century. محمد عبد الحميد موسى مندور (1907 - 1965 م), ناقد أدبي وكاتب مصري متنوع, ولغوي. درس في كلية الحقوق وكلية الآداب بالجامعة المصرية في العشرينات, حيث برع في دراسته وتفوق في مجال الأدب العربي واللغة العربية. عاش مندور فترة حافلة بالمعارك السياسية والاجتماعية, وشهد انخراطه في الحركات الطلابية ضد الاستعمار الإنجليزي والحكومة المصرية. درس في الخارج, حيث استمر في تأليف الكتب والمقالات النقدية, وشارك في الصحافة والتدريس الجامعي. يُعتبر مندور واحدًا من رواد التفكير والنقد الأدبي في مصر, وترك تأثيرًا كبيرًا في مجال الأدب واللغة.
