Jesus the Christ (Annotated)
Über das eBook
James E. Talmage's Jesus the Christ is a comprehensive theological biography of Jesus of Nazareth, moving from premortal identity and messianic prophecy through the ministry, crucifixion, resurrection, and anticipated second coming. Written in a dignified, scriptural prose style, the book synthesizes the New Testament with Latter-day Saint scripture, especially the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price. Its literary context is early twentieth-century religious exposition: learned, devotional, and apologetic, seeking both historical coherence and doctrinal clarity. James E. Talmage was a British-born scientist, educator, and apostle of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His training in geology and chemistry shaped his orderly method, while his ecclesiastical calling informed his reverent purpose. Commissioned by church leaders, he wrote the work in the Salt Lake Temple, bringing scholarly discipline and confessional conviction to a subject central to Latter-day Saint faith. This book is recommended to readers interested in Christology, Latter-day Saint theology, or religious biography. It rewards patient reading, offering not merely a life of Jesus, but a carefully argued portrait of Christ as Redeemer, Teacher, and divine Son.

Über den Autor
James E. Talmage (1862-1933) was an English chemist, geologist, and religious leader who served as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1911 until his death. Talmage authored several books on religion, the most prominent of which are Jesus the Christ and Articles of Faith. The books remain classics in Mormon literature. An academic and religious scholar, Talmage did not believe that science conflicted with his religious views. Regarding the conflicting Mormon views on evolution, Talmage attempted to mediate between church leaders B.H. Roberts and Joseph Fielding Smith who disagreed about evolution and the origin of man.
