History of the Qur'an

In his book, "The History of the Qur'an," Abu Abdullah al-Zanjani reveals the journey of the Qur'anic text from the moment of its revelation to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) to its translations into various languages. The author meticulously reviews the stages of writing, compilation, and codification, shedding light on the efforts of the Companions and their followers in preserving the Qur'an, as well as areas of disagreement that sparked scholarly debate, such as the order of the surahs and the interpretation of the separate letters at the beginning of some surahs. Beyond the traditional Islamic perspective, he also addresses the views of some Orientalists in studying the history of the Qur'an. This work combines historical documentation and critical research, offering researchers and readers a comprehensive view of the Qur'anic text's progress across the centuries.

أبو عبد الله الزنجاني (1881 – 1941م) هو عالم ومفكر ومؤرخ إسلامي إيراني من مدينة زنجان، برز في مجالات التاريخ والفلسفة والأدب والدراسات الدينية. عُرف بسعة اطلاعه واهتمامه بالتراث الإسلامي إلى جانب انفتاحه على الفكر الغربي الحديث، فكان جسراً بين الأصالة والمعاصرة. ألّف كتبًا عديدة في التاريخ والفكر والفلسفة الإسلامية، منها: "تاريخ التصوف الإسلامي" و"تاريخ القرآن" و"آراء الفلاسفة في العالَم"، كما ساهم في نشر الثقافة والمعرفة عبر التدريس والبحث والتأليف. يُعد الزنجاني من أبرز المفكرين الإيرانيين في أوائل القرن العشرين، وترك أثرًا واضحًا في الدراسات الإسلامية والفكرية الحديثة.
