Islamic civilization in Dar es Salaam
Über das eBook
In his book, "The Civilization of Islam in the House of Peace," Jamil Nakhl al-Mudwar takes us on an imaginary literary and historical journey, rich with documented facts, through the letters of a Persian traveler who roamed the Islamic state in the second century AH, during the reign of Caliph Harun al-Rashid. The journey begins in Baghdad, the House of Peace, where the traveler describes the gatherings of science, literature, and the arts that flourished during that golden age. He also unveils the hidden struggle between the caliphs and the Barmakid ministers within the palaces. From there, he moves to the Levant, then to Tunis and Kairouan, and from there to Alexandria, before heading to the Hijaz to perform the Hajj pilgrimage. He then returns to Baghdad, laden with impressions and experiences that reflect the greatness and diversity of Islamic civilization. In a style that combines historical narration with literary creativity, the author places the reader amidst vibrant scenes, sensing the spirit of the Abbasid era and sensing the power and prosperity that Dar al-Salam attained, making it the capital of the world in its time.
