Two stories

The book "Two Stories: The Feast of Our Lady of Saydnaya and a Love Tragedy" brings together two vibrant and symbolic narrative worlds from the pen of the thinker and writer Antoun Saadeh, who sought to craft literature that reflected the spirit of Eastern society and its authentic values. The first story, "The Feast of Our Lady of Saydnaya," takes us to the Saydnaya Monastery near Damascus between 1930 and 1931, where religious rituals intersect with social practices, reflecting an honest portrait of Syrian society with its customs and contradictions. The second story, "A Love Tragedy," is a human epic about the eternal struggle between good and evil, embodied in the character of "Saleem," who represents the lost values ​​of his time. He embarks on a tragic journey that reveals the fragility of humankind in the face of whims and betrayals. The book is not merely a narrative; it is an invitation to reflect on the nation's identity and morals, and a literary voice that seeks to establish an Eastern literature as an alternative to Western models, combining reality and symbolism, history and conscience.
