Grigory Petrovich Danilevsky (1829–1890) was a Russian novelist of the second half of the 19th century, whose historical novels enjoyed widespread popularity thanks to their vibrant characters, captivating plots, and masterful recreation of the era's atmosphere.

The novel "Princess Tarakanova" is dedicated to one of the most enigmatic figures of the 18th century—an impostor known as "Princess Vladimirskaya." Posing as the daughter of Empress Elizabeth Petrovna, she found herself at the center of court intrigues and international political games.
