Children's and family fairy tales

The brothers Jacob (1785–1863) and Wilhelm (1786–1859) Grimm were outstanding German philologists, collectors, and publishers of folklore, who laid the foundations of comparative linguistics. Their scholarly work spanned a wide range of fields: from fundamental works on the grammar and history of the German language (Jakob Grimm) to the painstaking collection and publication of ancient texts (Wilhelm Grimm). Together, they compiled the first historical dictionary of the German language and published the most important works of German literature.

However, it was their Children's and Family Tales, first published in 1812, that brought the brothers worldwide fame.
