Diwan al-Farazdaq

The Diwan of Al-Farazdaq brings together the poems of one of the pillars of Umayyad poetry and one of the most influential figures in the literary, political, and social life of his era. Renowned for his poetry of praise, pride, and satire, Al-Farazdaq was the voice of his tribe and a defender of his lineage and origins, expressing pride and self-esteem in his poetry. Along with the poets Jarir and Al-Akhtal, he formed a poetic triangle unparalleled in the history of satire and pride. It is said that the poetic rivalry between him and Jarir lasted for fifty years. Nevertheless, this did not prevent Jarir from mourning him in a long, moving poem upon his death. In this collection, the reader is presented with a comprehensive picture of life in the Umayyad era: the gatherings of caliphs and princes, the traditions of Arab tribes, the intellectual and social conflicts, and the amusing and dramatic situations. الفرزدق (641–728م) شاعر عربي من بني تميم، يُعد من أعلام الشعر في العصر الأموي. عُرف بفصاحته وقوة هجائه ومدائحه، واشتهر بمناقضاته الشعرية مع جرير والأخطل، وكان شعره مرجعًا لغويًا للأجيال اللاحقة.
