Opportunity for a mirage

In "A Chance for a Mirage," Fouad Yazigi continues his novelistic project that exposes issues of alienation and loss, this time transporting us to the heart of London, where the tragedy of the Arab community is intensified. From Holland in "The Teeth of the Dead Man" to Russia in "The Blue Volga," and finally to England, the author constructs a panorama of the Arab diaspora with all its pain, confusion, and internal conflicts. The novel boldly illuminates vices, betrayals, and treachery, but at the same time, it reveals suppressed tears and screams, and realistically addresses the roots of extremism and terrorism that have begun to shake the world. With a tense literary style charged with symbolism, Yazigi makes the reader live in the depths of alienation, where immigration becomes a grand illusion, an opportunity that yields nothing but a mirage.
