On the threshold of industrialization and collectivization (1924–1928)
Über das eBook
The third volume of Mikhail Vostryshev's series is dedicated to the period of formation of Soviet Russia in the 1920s, when the country, having survived bloody wars and revolution, remained predominantly agrarian. In January 1924, out of 145 million people, only 25 million lived in cities, and industry had not yet recovered to the pre-war level of 1913. The state faced a grandiose task - to overcome economic and technical backwardness in order to create the basis for a new socialist society.
The book reveals the key events and steps towards modernization of the country, showing how the transformation of Soviet Russia from an agrarian state into an industrial power began. This was the time of the first serious efforts to eliminate backwardness and create conditions for future successes.
