One ticket to Cairo

What if an ordinary person was exposed to conflicts beyond his abilities and lived lives beyond his ambitions? A strange journey in which the hero travels alone in the early forties, starting from the far south to the Al-Jazira Club in the heart of Cairo, and from the ancient Zamalek neighborhood to the ancient Abdeen lanes, then successive stops in Egyptian cities and European countries, so he does not always know where his final stop will be. Thus, Ashraf Al-Ashmawy carefully chose the field of his new creativity, to present to us a different novel with superior spectacle and a smooth narration, whose hero, even if he is from a marginalized group, represents the majority. We are all marginalized as long as we do not have the authority to determine destiny or the ability to make decisions.

أشرف العشماوي قاضٍ وروائي مصري صدرت له سبع روايات طويلة وكتاب وثائقي عن سرقة وتهريب الآثار المصرية بعنوان "سرقات مشروعة"، وصلت روايته الثانية "تـــويا" للقائمة الطويلة لجائزة البوكر العالمية لأفضل الروايات العربية عام 2012 ، وفازت رواية "البارمان" بجائزة أفضل رواية عربية من الهيئة المصرية العامة للكتاب عام 2014 . ترجمت بعض رواياته لعدة لغات وبيعت حقوق الملكية الفكرية لها لتحويلها لأعمال درامية بالسينما والتليفزيون.
