"درس خالد منصور الهندسة في جامعة المنصورة، وعمل كمهندس في القاهرة والبحرين لعامَيْن، إلا أنه اتجه نحو الصحافة في ١٩٩٠ وعمل مُحرِّرًا ومُراسِلًا عشر سنوات، في وكالتي: رويترز وأنباء الشرق الأوسط، في مصر وجنوب أفريقيا والولايات المتحدة. وانتقل للعمل في منظمة الأمم المتحدة في نهاية عام ١٩٩٩، حيث قضى أكثر من ١٣ عامًا، تَنقَّل فيها بين عدَّة دول في آسيا وأفريقيا، حتي صار رئيسًا لقسم الإعلام في منظمة اليونيسيف، في مُقرِّها الرئيسي في نيويورك. استقال من العمل بالأمم المتحدة وانتقل للقاهرة في عام ٢٠١٣ ليصبح المديرَ التنفيذي للمبادرة المصرية للحقوق الشخصية، ومنذ ٢٠١٥ صار كاتبًا وباحثًا مستقلًّا.
