"The fisherman sat for long hours thinking what to do now? What does he do with the mermaid after she has lined him up to fall into his net?!.. The mermaid... the bride of legends, is not a woman for him to love and marry, and not a fish for him to roast and eat. With all love and sorrow, he embraced her, and with all the pain of separation, he threw her into the sea again. Now we raise our cups and drink this cup in the fulfillment of the great dreams that seem impossible to achieve, but if they come to us and come true, we discover that they do not suit us. We leave it of our own free will."

أديبة وروائية مصرية، تنوعت دراساتها ما بين الطب، واللغة الروسية، وعلم المصريات، والنقد الفني، والفنون الشعبية. لها عدة مؤلفات؛ مجموعات قصصية «فنجان قهوة»، «سعادة السوبر ماركت»، وروايات «104 القاهرة»، «غيوم فرنسية» ولها كتاب في علم الاجتماع السياسي «محاكمة مبارك بشهادة السيدة نفيسة». وكانت أول أديب عربي يحصل على ميدالية الأولمبي الأدبي لأمانة الكلمة من اتحادات كتاب أوروبا وآسيا. عملت مرشدة سياحية ومترجمة لعدة لغات، وهي عضو بالمجلس الأعلى للثقافة وباتحاد كتاب مصر، وكذلك عضو مجلس النواب المصري.
