Berdyaev was born in 1874 in the city of Kiev, the first center of the Christian religion in Russia. His family was among the notables of Russian families, and he received his education in a military school. In 1894, while he was a university student, he converted to Marxism, and was influenced by its teachings and its approach to research and theory, and during the following four years The tsarist government arrested him twice, and the second time - in 1898, he was exiled to Volgoda for a period.
