Islam in history

Since the beginning of the third millennium - since the events of September 2011, the invasion of Iraq in 2003, and the emergence of ISIS and similar armed groups, up to Trump's declaration of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel - Islam and Muslims have suffered from the acceleration of events and the conflict of ideas between what is religious and what is worldly, and between one religious identity and another. برنارد لويس . هو أستاذ فخري بريطاني-أمريكي لدراسات الشرق الأوسط في جامعة برنستون. وتخصص في تاريخ الإسلام والتفاعل بين الإسلام والغرب وتشتهر خصوصا أعماله حول تاريخ الدولة العثمانية.

لويس هو أحد أهم علماء الشرق الأوسط الغربيين التي طالما ما سعى صناع السياسة من المحافظين الجدد مثل إدارة الرئيس الأمريكي جورج دبليو بوش إلى الحصول على استشارتهم.
