God Had Mercy on Me: The Life & Work of George Müller
Über das eBook
God Had Mercy on Me: The Life & Work of George Müller brings together devotional autobiography, biographical narrative, documentary recollection, and evangelical reflection to trace a life shaped by conversion, prayer, and practical philanthropy. Its central concerns—the discipline of faith, the care of vulnerable children, and the relation between spiritual conviction and public action—are developed through accounts of orphan work, financial dependence on providence, and religious renewal. The volume's varied registers make it both an intimate testimony and a record of nineteenth-century social reform. The contributors unite firsthand spiritual witness with familial memory and later interpretive biography. George Müller's experience as a Prussian-born evangelical minister working in Britain, Susannah Grace Sanger Müller's proximity to his domestic and institutional world, and Arthur T. Pierson's standing as a Protestant pastor and missionary advocate collectively situate the book within transatlantic evangelicalism. Their perspectives illuminate the networks of revivalism, voluntary association, missionary concern, and charitable enterprise that informed Müller's Bristol-based ministry. Recommended for readers of religious history, biography, philanthropy, and Victorian culture, this volume offers an unusually rich encounter with faith enacted in everyday institutions. Its multiple voices invite readers to consider how testimony, remembrance, and historical interpretation shape the legacy of charitable work, while fostering dialogue between personal devotion and wider social responsibility.
