The Truth About Jesus & The Bible Unveiled (Annotated)
Über das eBook
The Truth About Jesus & The Bible Unveiled brings together M. M. Mangasarian's forceful rationalist critique of Christian origins and biblical authority. Written in the lucid, polemical prose of early twentieth-century freethought literature, the work examines the historical evidence for Jesus, the formation of Scripture, and the moral and logical tensions within orthodox belief. Its style is argumentative rather than devotional, placing it within a tradition of secular biblical criticism that sought to make theology answerable to history, philology, and common reason. Mangasarian, an Armenian-born American lecturer and former Presbyterian minister, wrote from the vantage point of one who had inhabited religious institutions before rejecting their claims. As a leading voice in the independent Ethical and rationalist movements, he addressed audiences eager for alternatives to dogma. His background gave his criticism both familiarity and urgency: he understood the emotional power of faith, yet insisted that inherited doctrines be tested by evidence. This book is recommended to readers interested in the history of skepticism, comparative religion, and the public debates over Christianity in modernity. It will especially reward those seeking a concise but provocative example of freethought biblical criticism.
