The Young Trailers - Complete Series (Annotated)
Über das eBook
The Young Trailers—Complete Series gathers Joseph A. Altsheler's six frontier romances tracing Henry Ware and his companions through the forests, rivers, and contested borderlands of early America. Written in a vigorous, episodic style, the books combine wilderness survival, pursuit narratives, and historical adventure with the moral clarity typical of early twentieth-century juvenile fiction. Set amid colonial and Revolutionary-era struggles in Kentucky and the Ohio Valley, the series belongs to the tradition of Cooperian frontier literature, yet it is more accessible, swift-moving, and serial in design. Altsheler, born in Kentucky in 1862, brought to these novels both regional familiarity and a journalist's instinct for pace, detail, and dramatic incident. After working for newspapers, including the New York World, he became one of the most prolific American writers of historical fiction for young readers. His interest in national origins, border warfare, and youthful courage clearly shaped this series, which transforms American frontier history into instructive adventure. This collection is recommended for readers interested in classic boys' adventure, historical fiction, and the literary mythology of the American frontier. Though marked by the assumptions of its era, it remains valuable for its narrative energy, historical imagination, and enduring portrait of loyalty, resourcefulness, and courage under pressure.
