In his book, "July 11, 1882," Prince Omar Toson reviews the events of the day that witnessed the entry of British forces into the city of Alexandria, defying all international treaties and using flimsy pretexts to justify the invasion and occupation. On this day, Britain brutally bombarded Alexandria with fifteen ships of its navy under the command of Admiral Sir Frederick Beauchamp Seymour. In this book, Toson seeks to provide a detailed account of the events that took place on that day, showing how Alexandria was the first fortress to fall, followed by the fall of the rest of the Egyptian cities. Through this detail, Toson aims to remind Egyptians of these painful historical facts, to reveal mysterious matters and to draw lessons and lessons from them. With this book, Toson seeks to preserve Egyptian historical memory in one of its darkest days, which completely changed its historical course.

عمر طوسون هو أحد أهم رواد الإصلاح والنهضة في مصر أوائل القرن العشرين، وله إسهامات بارزة في المجالات العلمية والعملية. اشتهر بتأريخ الأحداث التاريخية المصرية وتقديم دراسات أثرية رائدة، كما أسهم في اكتشاف العديد من الآثار مثل رأس تمثال الإسكندر الأكبر. ولد في الإسكندرية عام 1872م ونشأ يتيم الأب، حيث تولت جدته تربيته قبل أن يكمل تعليمه في سويسرا ويزور العديد من البلدان الأوروبية. عُرف بأعماله الخيرية الواسعة التي شملت جمعيات إسلامية وقبطية، ودعمه للمقاومة الليبية العثمانية ضد الغزو الإيطالي، بالإضافة إلى نشاطاته الاقتصادية كرئيس للجمعية الزراعية الملكية. توفي عام 1944م عن عمر يناهز الثانية والسبعين.
