Shakespeare drew it from a heroic story narrated by Saksu Garmsikos. The play talks about Hamlet, the Prince of Denmark, who shows him the ghost of his father, the king (his name is also Hamlet) on a night and asks him to take revenge for his killing, and Hamlet succeeded in the end after the family liquidated in a tragic series of events.
