Hendrik, born in 1955 in Welkom in South Africa's Free State province, has always pursued his curiosity into new worlds. Starting his career as a journalist, he quickly discovered his true calling in the wilderness, becoming one of the pioneering guides during the earliest days of safari tourism. A licensed South African travel and field guide, Hendrik has spent over three decades leading journeys across southern, central and eastern Africa. His passions are as diverse as the landscapes he explores: an expert ear for bird calls, deep knowledge of geology and a rich understanding of both natural and human history. Through his storytelling, he brings the continent to life, connecting travellers to its flora, fauna and people with warmth, insight and enduring enthusiasm.
