Über das eBook

The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam is a unique poetic work that combines the spirit of poetry, the spirit of wisdom, and the spirit of liberation. It also combines the life of the sinner with the life of the repentant, and the spirit of commitment with the spirit of liberation. Ultimately, however, the poet leans toward what he should lean toward: the straight path, good faith in God, and rebuking the soul in the face of its desires. God's great mercy, which encompasses all things, is the final refuge for both the believer and the sinner. Thus, with all its contradictions, the life of Omar Khayyam ended. It is said that Omar Khayyam was contemplating "divinity" from Ibn Sina's The Book of Healing. When he reached the chapter on the One and the Many, he put down the book, stood up, prayed, and then made recommendations, neither eating nor drinking. When he finished the evening prayer, he prostrated himself to God and said in his prostration, "O God, I have known You to the best of my ability, so forgive me, for my knowledge of You is my means of access to You." Then he finally surrendered his soul. The artistic value of Omar Khayyam's Rubaiyat rests on its comprehensive vision of human action, its exploration of the deepest layers of the human self, especially the baser ones, and its penetrating and influential expressive ability. This leaves us with a poetic text that is not preachy and has value in the history of human creativity.
