Magical realism and storytelling transformations
Über das eBook
In this study, I have addressed the historical and artistic trajectory of the transformations of the narrative—in a modest manner—beginning with the traditional narrative writings of Dhunun Ayoub, Jaafar Al-Khalili, Abdul Haq Fadel, and Fahmi Al-Mudarris in the 1930s and 1940s. This section continues through the space of the first modernist sensibility, created by the experiments of Abdul Malik Nouri and Fouad Al-Takarli in the 1950s, and finally the second modernist sensibility in the 1960s, with its accompanying experimentation, displacements, and transformations. The third modernist sensibility in the 1990s and the first decade of the current century, which continues to undergo transformations, has been entrusted to the first chapter.
We have benefited from modernist and postmodernist critical approaches that emphasize the text and the reader. We have also benefited from the sociology of the text, which has sought to highlight the multiple textual levels, particularly the linguistic and social overlap, in terms of addressing the textual interior and its openness to the textual exterior. This is what prompted us to adopt a strategy of methodological synergy based on analyzing the units of the story, investing in comparisons, evoking connotations, activating the area of interpretation, dissecting the body of the text, revealing its internal relationships, illuminating its darkness and qualitative shifts. All of this was achieved in a critical formulation that the nature of the transformations and their specificity required of us, in order to interact with the textual openness and the textual dynamism that shook the reader's horizon, in addition to our critical choices that represent our orientation, especially the strategy of reading and interpretation. This was distributed over the second chapter, which approaches magical realism and the transformations of the story among a number of Iraqi short story writers.
