Suad had never experienced disagreements between Zahra and her husband that reached this level, despite her recent revelations of a cooling relationship. Aware of her friend's husband's respect for her, she said, "I'll go to your house and bring you your clothes, so you can relax and sleep here tonight... I won't be long." She headed to Abu Ali's house. She knocked on the door, and after waiting, knocked again. After a long wait, she called out, "Abu Ali... Abu Ali..." When she didn't receive an answer, she turned the doorknob and timidly opened it. She moved him, then nudged him, to no avail. She bit the edge of her blanket and hurried back the way she'd come. She entered, panting, trembling, and with tears streaming down her cheeks. "Zahra... Zahra... your husband is dead. What did you do to him?" How did he die?
Zahra shouted loudly:
