The dying land

In his novel "The Land That Dies," René Bazin presents us with a story about deep France, about that land that was once known as a land of vineyards and vast fields that has been forgotten in this time. Therefore, it is a wonderful evocation of the life of peasants who lived in complete self-merging with nature, and it touches on the life difficulties they faced, but it also sheds light on the attractiveness of cities following the transformations of what was known at the time as the Industrial Revolution, that is, the social, economic, and moral transformations that cast their shadows on French rural society in the late nineteenth century.
