Lovers from the East

In her three novels: Love of the Small Town, Love of Beauty, and Love of the Bare Mountain, the Chinese writer Wang An Yi attempts to approach the phenomenon of love from the perspective of her Chinese culture. To do so, she tells us about it through three different experiences, with her awareness of the complexity of this phenomenon and its inapplicability. To repeat, every love relationship is a special and unique experience that cannot be repeated, even if it seems otherwise. Love is not born in a vacuum, but rather expresses itself as an event that takes place within a social and psychological framework that changes according to the process and development of societies.
