Kingdom of the blind
Über das eBook
The Kingdom of the Blind by Edward Phillips Oppenheim is a spy novel full of mystery and political intrigue set during World War I. The main character, Granit, is a handsome and sociable officer, who falls in love with Geraldine, a beautiful girl of noble origins, who is engaged to another officer, Hugh Thompson. Thus, an emotional conflict arises between the two officers, where one represents the attractive appearance, and the other represents the serious and sober essence. But as events escalate, it becomes clear that the struggle is not only over Geraldine's heart, but that both officers are involved in a complex intelligence conspiracy. The competition transforms from just an emotional battle into an intelligence conflict related to the fate of the nation. In the context of war and intrigue, the novel highlights the dialectic of appearance and essence, and the relationship between external beauty and internal honesty. The novel combines emotional and political suspense, and presents the atmosphere of World War I through the perspective of personal and intelligence conflict between the characters.
