France and England in North America (Vol. 1-7)

This book gives the account of the French-British contest for new lands. It covers such topics as the arrival of the first French pioneers in the New World, the role and activity of Jesuits in North America in the seventeenth century, the discovery of the Great West. It also mentions the great historical personalities like Count Frontenac, Louis-Joseph de Montcalm, and King Louis of France and their role in the development of the relations between the two countries.

Francis Parkman (1823 – 1893) was an American historian whose works "The Oregon Trail: Sketches of Prairie and Rocky-Mountain Life" and "France and England in North America" are still valued as historical sources and as literature.
