Cosmic Consciousness is a pioneering work of philosophy and psychology by Richard Maurice Bucke that explores the possibility of higher states of human awareness and spiritual awakening. Drawing upon history, literature, religion, and personal observation, Bucke proposes that human consciousness evolves through distinct stages, culminating in an expanded state of insight that he describes as cosmic consciousness. The book examines the lives and experiences of influential thinkers, poets, philosophers, and spiritual figures whom Bucke believed demonstrated this elevated form of awareness. Through their writings and biographies, he explores themes of unity, enlightenment, universal love, and the interconnectedness of all existence, inviting readers to consider the deeper dimensions of human potential.
