ابن سينا (أبو علي الحسين بن عبد الله بن سينا) فيلسوف وطبيب وعالم مسلم فارسي الأصل، وُلد في بخارى سنة 370 هـ / 980 م، ويعد أحد أعظم العقول في تاريخ البشرية. منذ صغره أظهر نبوغاً استثنائياً في العلوم الطبيعية والمنطق والرياضيات، وتمكن من إتقان الطب والفلسفة في سن مبكرة. برز اسمه في الطب من خلال كتابه الشهير "القانون في الطب" الذي ظل المرجع الأساسي في أوروبا والعالم الإسلامي لعدة قرون. كما كان له إسهام كبير في الفلسفة الإسلامية من خلال محاولته التوفيق بين الفكر الأرسطي والعقيدة الإسلامية. ترك أكثر من 200 مؤلف في الطب والفلسفة والفلك والمنطق، مما جعله رمزاً للعقلانية والتجريب العلمي في الحضارة الإسلامية. عاش حياة مليئة بالبحث والسفر، وعُرف بحبه للعلم وانكبابه على التأمل والمعرفة حتى وفاته في همدان سنة 1037م.
