كرم البستاني هو أديب لبناني من أسرة البستانيين الشهيرة، وُلد في بلدة دير القمر وتلقى تعليمه في مدارس الآباء اليسوعيين. عمل في التدريس والصحافة وبرز كواحد من الأسماء الأدبية المؤثرة في عصره. كتب في مجالات الأدب والتاريخ والاجتماع، ومن أبرز مؤلفاته: "أساطير شرقية"، "المجاني الحديثة"، "أميرات لبنان"، و"النساء العربيات"، إلى جانب مجموعات قصصية مثل "حكايات لبنانية". اهتم أيضًا بتحقيق ونشر دواوين الشعر العربي القديم مثل ديوان النابغة الذبياني، وأسهم في إحياء التراث الأدبي العربي. جمع في كتاباته بين الطابع الأدبي الرفيع والأسلوب الشعبي القريب من القرّاء، فكان أحد رواد الأدب النهضوي في لبنان.
