"This short book came about after my brother Salman and his wife asked me for a list of parenting books in preparation for the arrival of their first child, Alaa! When I went back to my list, I found that with each book I suggested, there was a long list of notes explaining its background, the school of thought it belonged to, and its useful parts. With a little reflection, and after compiling all the parenting books, I realized that I had read books from different schools and styles, some of which were even contradictory. As a result, over the past seventeen years of raising my children, I had used many different styles at different stages and in different situations without realizing their differences and effects! This is not to my credit, because each style has its own advantages, disadvantages, and outcomes that differ from others."
