Pentaur demon
About the eBook
In "The Devil of Pentaour," the Prince of Poets Ahmed Shawqi unleashes his imagination to craft a unique literary text that combines the Pharaonic past and the modern present in a captivating narrative-dialogue format. "Solomon's Hoopoe," a symbol of wisdom and broad vision, meets "Labad Luqman," the ancient eagle that represents the Pharaonic poet Pentaour. Shawqi takes him on a journey through time, observing how Egypt changed between the reign of Ramses the Great and the beginning of the twentieth century. Through this journey, Shawqi draws a rich comparison between ancient and modern literature and poetry, shedding light on the transformations of time and place, revealing his nostalgia for Pharaonic civilization and his belief in the immortality of the poetic word throughout the ages. The text is replete with symbols and dialogues that blend history, imagination, and philosophy, presenting the reader with a literary canvas that represents a dialogue between the poet of ancient Egypt and the poet of modern Egypt.
