About the eBook

Karl Wörishofer is the pseudonym of Sophie Wörishofer (1839–1890), one of the most popular German writers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Her adventure novels enjoyed great popularity, captivating readers with exciting journeys and exotic worlds. Among the writer's best works are "The Ship of Naturalists", in which two young men take an educational journey through Africa, Borneo, and the islands of Polynesia, and "Among the Pirates", which tells the story of a boy captured by 17th-century Moorish pirates.

This volume presents her novel "The Diamonds of the Peruvian", a dangerous story of young Benno Zurgeiden. Fate brings him together with the mysterious Ramiro, the director of a traveling circus, which causes the indignation of Uncle Benno. In order to break off their communication, the young man is sent to Rio de Janeiro, to a familiar merchant. However, along the way he meets Ramiro again, who is heading to Brazil to retrieve the inherited diamonds left by his grandfather. Together they decide to escape and set off on a dangerous journey through the wild jungle, seeking to find secret diamond mines. Unexpected discoveries, deadly trials and adventures that can change their fate await them.
