Love always hides itself... behind a tree trunk, or in empty places, so that its tenderness does not scratch people's eyes... Love is self-sufficient, it wants nothing but for the two hearts to be empty of each other... so it runs away with them... and it may be forced to... Lying, to hide... And perhaps this lying was a kind of fear... Love is like a small child, it becomes confused and trembles when it faces the hustle and bustle of life... Or it is a kind of pride...."

But the calm soon becomes noise and her nerves are delicate... weak... she is at the peak of feeling... the peak of feeling sad... and feeling euphoric... she is always at the top... and the sad girl is the weakest of girls..."

احسان عبد القدوس ولد أول يناير 1919 بالقاهرة، تخرج في كلية الحقوق عام 1942. بدأ حياته كاتبًا سياسيّا ورئيسًا لتحرير مجلة روزاليوسف التي أسستها والدته فاطمة اليوسف. فجّر قضية الأسلحة الفاسدة التي استخدمت في حرب فلسطين. تقلد عددًا من المناصب الصحفية كان آخرها رئيسًا لتحرير ولمجلس إدارة مؤسسة الأهرام، وبعدها تفرغ للكتابة حتى وفاته 11 يناير 1990. أنتج المئات من الروايات والمجموعات القصصية التي تحوّل معظمها إلى أعمال سينمائية وإذاعية وتليفزيونية. حصل على العديد من أرفع الأوسمة والجوائز وشهادات التقدير المحلية والعالمية.
