Two novellas by the English writer Algernon Blackwood, one of the most famous founders of horror literature. The novella "The Willows" is considered one of the most powerful things written in psychological horror literature, as it contains the brutality of nature and its manipulation of human feeling, when two friends lose their way and become trapped on a remote island covered with forests. From the willows, this natural scene turns into a scarecrow that terrifies the two friends, as the trees move, and the island and its phenomena change, as if consuming their fears with terrible slowness.
Lovecraft considers it to be the best horror work ever written in the English language.
