بسمة عبد العزيز، طبيبة وكاتبة، لها عدد من المؤلفات الأدبية والعلمية وعمود ثابت بجريدة الشروق المصرية إضافة لكونها فنانة تشكيلية. حازت أعمالها على جوائز متعددة منها ساويرس الأدبية لعام ٢٠٠٨، وأحمد بهاء الدين البحثية لعام ٢٠٠٩. اختارتها مجلة Forgein Policy عام ٢٠١٦ في قائمتها السنوية "مائة من قادة الفكر في العالم"، وفي عام ٢٠١٧ اختارتها Words Without Borders في قائمة ضمت ٣٣ كاتبة على مستوى العالم مِمَن يجرؤن على التغيير في مجتمعاتهن، وتم ترشيح روايتها "الطابور" في العام نفسه للقائمة الطويلة لجائزة Best Translated Book Award وهي إحدى أهم ثلاث جوائز للأعمال المترجمة في الولايات المتحدة، ووصلت الرواية إلي القائمة القصيرة لجائزة "TA First Translation Prize"، وقد صدرت في ترجمات لسبع لغات مختلفة. حظت الكاتبة بتكريم خاص مِن مجمع اللغة العربية في نهاية عام ٢٠١٧ تقديرًا لجهودها في نشر الثقافة بالعربية الفصحى المتقنة، واختارها معهد Gottlieb Duttweiler السويسري، المختص بدراسات تشكيل الرأي العام، في قائمة "الأكثر تأثيرًا في الرأي العام العربي" خلال العام نفسه. أحدث أعمالها الصادرة عن دار المحروسة رواية أعوام التوتة."
