These texts are not autobiographical, nor anything close to it. There is a degree of imagination in it, and there is a lot of artistic craftsmanship in it. * It contains illusions - events, visions - characters, kernels of events that are dreams, and clouds of memories that should have happened, but never happened. * Perhaps it is a process of becoming, not a biography. أديب مصري، حصل على إجازة في الحقوق (جامعة الإسكندرية/ 1946)، وكان من أوائل المُنظِّرين والكاتبين للحساسية الجديدة في مصر (1967)، تاركاً أثره في العديد من الأعمال الأدبية السَّرديَّة (قصة ورواية)، والتي بدأت مع مجموعته القصصية الأولى "الحيطان العالية"، ثم فاز بجائزة الدولة عن مجموعته "ساعات كبرياء" (1972)، وجائزة الدولة التشجيعية، ووسام العلوم والفنون من الطبقة الأولى عام 1973. أصدر 50 عملًا أدبيًّا بين قصة وشِعر ونقد ورواية، وترجم 14 كتابًا إلى العربية. بدأ مركز المحروسة إعادة نشر بعض أعماله، منها "ترابها زعفران"، "يا بنات إسكندرية".
