We have the impression that we are in a new situation. But the reality is that the Middle East experienced, over the course of the nineteenth century, what was then called the Eastern Crises. Since 2003, Henri Lawrence has held the position of Professor of the Contemporary History of the Arab World at the College de France. He is the author of more than twenty historical works, especially "The Question of Palestine" (ten parts), which is the first real synthesis of one of the major questions of our time.
