"Al-Hawamil wal-Shawalil" are questions posed by Abu Hayyan al-Tawhidi to Miskawayh.
The camels are stray camels whose owner neglects them and leaves them to graze. "Shamil" are the animals that control pregnant camels and gather them.
Abu Hayyan borrowed the word al-Hawamil for his scattered questions awaiting an answer, and Miskawayh used the word al-Shawamil in the answers he gave, so Abu Hayyan's "Hawamil" was defined.
