About the book: "The Nature of Love" by Hatem Al-Shahri is a literary, philosophical and spiritual journey into the depths of the sea of ​​love that has no shore. A journey that explores the most beautiful and noblest things said about it, even its most dangerous, most mysterious and most complex concepts in a clear, smooth language that combines precision of expression, comprehensiveness of meaning and clarity of meaning, from the era of the Greeks and their philosophers and writers, through the Abbasid era and its poets, writers, philosophers and Sufis, and up to our contemporary era and what has been said about it and books written in Arabic and foreign languages.

If someone were to ask what is love? He would not find a satisfactory and sufficient answer. It may be an instinct that humans are born with, or it may be an instinct that blossoms in adolescence and erupts like a volcano. But what love are we talking about? About the love of fathers and mothers for their sons and daughters, or the love of men for women and women for men, or the love of brothers, friends and relatives for each other? Or the love of teachers for their students and the love of students for their teachers? And what love do we mean? The lowly love that only satisfies passing sexual desires? Or the pure, innocent spiritual love that is free from baseness and elevates its owner on the ladder of knowledge, wisdom and virtue and teaches him the meaning of altruism, sacrifice and giving without limits? Then what is the purpose of love, and what is the effect of beauty on it? Can the heart accommodate more than one lover at a time? Is love blind as it has been said or does it see the secrets of feelings, impulses and intentions? From these questions that the author poses and many others, this book begins and does not end except with the new questions it raises, the ideas it generates and the answers it calls for, and that is, by God, an essential feature of this book, whose author has perhaps devoted many years to collecting the sayings in it and observing the differences and similarities in opinions and positions on love in its essential nature, levels, types and goals.
