علي الجارم، أديب وشاعر مصري مرموق وعضو بارز في مدرسة الإحياء والبعث، جنبًا إلى جنب مع أحمد شوقي وحافظ إبراهيم. وُلِد في مدينة رشيد عام 1881، وتلقى تعليمه الأولي هناك قبل أن ينتقل للدراسة في الأزهر ومن ثم دار العلوم بجامعة القاهرة. سافر إلى إنجلترا لدراسة أصول التربية في نوتينجهام وعاد إلى مصر ليعمل في التربية والتعليم، حيث تقلد عدة مناصب هامة بما في ذلك كبير مفتشي اللغة العربية. كما كان وكيلًا لدار العلوم وعضوًا مؤسسًا لمجمع اللغة العربية. أثرى الجارم المكتبة الأدبية العربية بروايات تاريخية وأعمال شعرية وكتب مدرسية، واشتهر بغيرته على الدين واللغة. توفي في عام 1949، تاركًا إرثًا ثقافيًا غنيًا أثرى الحياة الأدبية في مصر.
