سلامة موسى، مفكر وكاتب مصري رائد، وُلِدَ في عام 1887 بقرية بهنباي بالزقازيق. يُعد من أوائل المروجين للفكر الاشتراكي في مصر وداعياً للتغرب والانفتاح على الثقافة الغربية لتحقيق نهضة المجتمع المصري. درس في المدرسة التوفيقية والمدرسة الخديوية في القاهرة، وتابع تعليمه العالي في فرنسا وإنجلترا حيث اطلع على الفلسفات والعلوم الغربية. عُرف بتأثره بنظريات داروين وكتب عديدة في النقد الاجتماعي والديني، وتبنى بعض الأفكار العنصرية السائدة في ذلك الوقت. ألّف كتبًا أثارت جدلًا واسعًا وترك إرثًا فكريًا وأدبيًا معقدًا تراوح بين الإعجاب والانتقاد الشديد. توفي في عام 1958، تاركًا بصمة لا تُمحى في تاريخ الفكر المصري.
