Al -Mabsut is a book on jurisprudence on the Hanafi school, written by Imam Shams Al -Imam Al -Sarkhasi.
Shams al-Imam Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Abi Sahl al-Sarkhasi al-Khazraji al-Ansari (d. 490 AH) is a Hanafi fundamentalist jurist from Sarkhas (Turkmenistan), an ancient town in Khorasan. He took jurisprudence and principles from Abdul Aziz Al-Halawani and Al-Saghdi, and Ibn Kamal Pasha considered him one of the mujtahids. He was a scholar, worker and advisor to the rulers. He was imprisoned by the Khagan because of his advice to him. He wrote the book Al-Mabsut while he was a prisoner, and it is the largest book on Hanafi jurisprudence printed in thirty parts. He also wrote Sharh Al-Siyar Al-Kabir by Muhammad bin Al-Hasan Al-Shaybani, and he has a brief explanation by Al-Tahawi. He has one of the largest books on the principles of jurisprudence according to the Hanafi jurisprudence, and is known as Usul Al-Sarkhasi, and his tomb still remains.
