About the eBook

The Preaching Tours and Missionary Labours of George Müller of Bristol is both a devotional record and a missionary chronicle, tracing Müller's extensive late-life journeys across Britain, Europe, North America, Asia, and Australasia. Written in a clear, earnest Victorian evangelical prose, the book combines itinerary, testimony, spiritual reflection, and institutional memory. Its literary context belongs to the nineteenth-century tradition of Protestant mission narrative, where travel writing, biography, and religious exhortation converge to interpret events as evidence of providential guidance. Susannah Grace Sanger Müller, George Müller's second wife and travelling companion, writes with the authority of intimate observation. Her perspective is shaped by shared labour, domestic partnership, and participation in the practical routines of itinerant ministry. Having witnessed Müller's preaching, correspondence, prayer, and dependence upon voluntary support, she preserves not merely public achievements but the habits of faith that sustained them, presenting him as a figure formed by disciplined piety and global evangelical concern. This volume is recommended to readers interested in missionary history, Victorian religion, spiritual biography, and the theology of prayer. It offers a valuable primary witness to Müller's later ministry and to the wider evangelical networks of the nineteenth century.

About the Author

Susannah Grace Sanger Müller (1817 – 1894) was the second wife of a Christian evangelist and the director of the Ashley Down orphanage in Bristol, George Ferdinand Müller. After her husband's death she continued with the ongoing work of the orphanages and assisted in making the ministry known elsewhere. George and Susannah began a 17 year period of missionary travel all over the world. These tours were evangelistic but also raised money for the orphanages and the caring of thousands of children.
