About the eBook

Joseph A. Altsheler's The French and Indian War (Vol. 1–6) is a sweeping sequence of historical romances tracing the imperial struggle between Britain and France in North America through frontier warfare, wilderness diplomacy, sieges, and shifting alliances. Written in a vigorous, lucid style for younger readers yet rich in historical atmosphere, the series belongs to the early twentieth-century tradition of instructive adventure fiction, combining suspense, patriotic feeling, and careful attention to geography and military episode. Altsheler, a Kentucky-born journalist and prolific author of historical novels, brought to his fiction the narrative discipline of the newspaper writer and a deep fascination with formative conflicts in American history. His experience as an editor sharpened his sense of pace and clarity, while his Southern and national historical interests encouraged him to dramatize the colonial past as a field of courage, endurance, and moral testing. This six-volume work is recommended for readers who value classic adventure grounded in historical conflict. Though shaped by the assumptions of its era, it remains engaging for students of juvenile literature, historical fiction, and the imaginative construction of early America.
