Annette Bräker and Horst H. Geerken take us with them on a more than 3000-kilometre journey from Pakistan through the Hunza Valley to Kashgar in Xinjiang and back to Pakistan. The book deals with the history, culture and peoples of the Hunza Valley and Xinjiang. As well as with historical facts the book is larded with amusing anecdotes about their experiences. It is an amusing and humorous, but also informative read.

Horst H. Geerken lived in Indonesia from 1963 to 1981. In addition to his professional work as Resident Engineer he travelled a large part of Asia during this time and later, often with his long-term partner Annette Bräker.
Horst H. Geerken has published several historical works, including A Gecko for Luck about the Dutch colonial period and the independence struggle in Indonesia. His Hitlers Asian Adventure documents the influence of the Third Reich on independence movements in South-East Asia and India.
