In the Sinai desert
About the eBook
This book deals with the language of the Bedouins of Sinai, their religion, knowledge, agriculture, industry and trade. They speak Arabic with a beautiful accent, close to that of the Syrian desert. They pronounce the letter tha as tha, the letter dhal as dhaal, the letter jim as jim and the letter dad as dad like the people of Quraysh, but they pronounce the letter qaf with a thick qaf like the Egyptian jim. The Bedouins of the desert are more eloquent and have a deeper tradition of Bedouinism than the Bedouins of Tur and Arish. They all prefer the diminutive form and use it frequently in their speech, as well as the sound feminine plural, the feminine nun, and the light and heavy nun of emphasis. The book deals in detail with their agriculture, industry and trade. It also discusses the morals, customs, superstitions, courts and laws of the Bedouins.
