This book, from the point of view of its author, is nothing more than presenting another aspect of poetic reading, and of reading Al-Mutanabbi's poetry in particular, an aspect in which the meaning of the poetic document is not viewed in isolation from the structure that created this meaning. It is not enough to stop at one level of this structure until it is placed in its place among the rest of those levels, passive, active, affected, and influential, a product of what is above it from the covers of the nucleus (or the deep structure of the text) and a product of what is below it, which leads to revealing the richness of poetic language and clarifying all its data, as much as it leads - at the same time - to the generosity of meaning and its multiplicity, according to the gradation of levels of construction. Reading the poetic work in this way is not synonymous with a quick perusal that is intended for mere fleeting pleasure, enjoyment, or entertainment, nor does it mean receiving that work automatically, stemming from personal taste alone. Rather, on the contrary, it requires a persistent effort to fathom its rhythmic, compositional, and pictorial relationships, and then in trying to penetrate from these relationships to Its psychological and intellectual gestures, and then the reading process rises - at some stage - to the level of systematic, organized consideration, or the art of distinguishing styles, which is a nerve of the nerves of modern literary study.
